Decks, Wood or Composite
Multi level, wrap around, pool decks, privacy walls. Pressure treated cedar tone or maintenance free composite.
Custom decks, fences and pergolas across the West Island and Greater Montreal. Quoted for free by the guys whose name is on the truck.
An old deck, a shed, a hot tub, a fence. That is a carpentry job before anybody lifts anything, and it is the part most junk crews will not touch.
What we do
Three things we do well. One crew you can call.
Multi level, wrap around, pool decks, privacy walls. Pressure treated cedar tone or maintenance free composite.
Horizontal privacy fences, composite, and ornamental pool fencing that passes inspection.
Garage, basement and shed cleanouts, old furniture and reno debris. Same crew, priced over the phone.
Kodiak Builds is Wes and Thomas. Both carpenters by trade, both running their own jobs before partnering up in spring 2025. We are not a franchise and not a sales office that subcontracts the work. The people who quote your deck are the people who build it.
Every job ends with a walk through. We check it with you before we call it done.
If something is not right, we fix it before we leave.

what we do
Wood or composite, single level or three, built to survive a Quebec winter. Wood gives you the natural look at a lower cost, while composite (we build a lot of Trex) costs more up front but never splinters or needs staining and lasts upwards of 25 years. We will tell you straight which one fits your budget and your yard.
Horizontal cedar privacy fences, composite fences that never need staining, and ornamental pool fencing that meets code without making the yard look like a cage. Posts go in below the frost line, so the fence you see in spring is the one you paid for, and the gates still swing straight after a winter of heaving.
Garage cleanouts, basement cleanouts, renovation debris, old furniture and appliances, same crew and trailer, usually within a day or two of your call. Tell us what needs to go, we price it over the phone, then load, haul and sweep up, donating or recycling what we can.

Step by step
Tell us what you have in mind. We come see the yard, take measurements and talk through wood versus composite. The visit is free.
You get a written quote with the materials spelled out and a date on the calendar. No surprises after we start.
We show up when we said we would, keep the site tidy, and build it square, level and fastened to last.
Before the last truck leaves we walk the whole job with you. Anything not right gets fixed then, not next month.
Where we work
Kodiak Builds is run by Wes Taylor and Thomas Rae, two carpenters who each spent the 2024 season building on their own before joining forces in spring 2025. We are based in the West Island and build across Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Lazare, Pincourt, L'Ile-Perrot, Hudson and the surrounding towns.
We are young, we are detail obsessed, and we take real pride in the work. The plan is simple: keep building backyards people are proud to show their neighbours.

It depends on size, height, material and railings. Wood is the lower cost option, composite costs more up front and saves you staining for 25 years. We come out, measure and give you a written fixed price for free. The quote is the quote, no surprises later.
Wood looks natural, costs less and can be repaired, sanded and stained, but it needs maintenance and will eventually rot even when pressure treated. Composite never splinters, never needs staining, comes in many colours and lasts upwards of 25 years, but costs more up front and can get warm in direct sun. We build both and will tell you which one fits your budget.
Most decks and fences in our area need a municipal permit. We tell you exactly what your town requires, and we build to code so the inspection is not a problem.
Spring and summer fill up fast. If you want a deck for next summer, get quoted this fall and lock a build date. Fences and smaller jobs can often fit in sooner.
Interior renovations (bathrooms, kitchens, basements, flooring, finishing) and junk removal. Same crew all year, so you keep one number for the whole house.
A deposit locks your build date and materials, with the balance due on completion after we walk the finished job with you. Interac transfer, cheque or card.
